Children's Reading Festival is coming to Lakeland on Saturday

A free children's Reading Festival is coming to Lakeland on Saturday and about 1,500 children are expected to attract.

Greater Lakeland Junior is his sixth year party, now the world's League of Reading, chat activities, free books, arts and crafts, music, children's book authors will feature readings, and the life.

The young participants a United States, India, South Africa, Spain and Switzerland to learn about different cultures and arts and crafts to participate in activities related to each area will get a chance.

Stacey Osmon, a Junior League event chairperson said that before the festival in research for children through fifth grade is an ideal.

The event will be held at Barnett Family Park, 121 S. Lake Ave., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Osmon said, "This is our one big event we put on in the community to promote literacy ... it takes about a year to plan this".

Lakeland's Katherine Boll and Lucia Gonzalez of Miami will provide book readings and free books.

Singer/songwriter Jack Hartmann also will return to the event confirmed to performances at 10 a.m. and noon.

Junior League President Kimberly Elmhorst said the festival last year and enjoyed strong attendance Saturday should attract a large crowd.

Elmhorst said, "Last year we planned on 800 children and we had more than 1,200".
