Shops near Reading Festival should be alert

One of the garage near the Reading Festival site could be banned from selling alcohol throughout next year’s event, if councillors agree proposals.

Trading standards officers of Reading applied for a review of the alcohol licence of BP Snax 24 after two underage boys had taken lager during the festival on two following years.
According to Trading Standards near the festival site many places were on investigation with the police over the August Bank Holiday in 2009. There was a one whose age was just 17. He was able to purchase Fosters from the Snax 24 shop at the petrol station in Richfield Avenue.

Trading standards officers are suggesting the suspension of Snax 24’s alcohol licence for five days, from Wednesday, August 24, 2011, to Monday, August 29, while the festival is taking place.
