Reading and Leeds Festival, My Chemical Romance channelling to queen

Gerard Way is a member of the My Chemical Romance, who said that he plans to channel Freddie Mercury during the band's Reading And Leeds Festivals shows this year.

Accordimg to the new issue of NME he said, "I said to the guys, 'I never want to play this again until we headline'. Kind of what Freddie Mercury once said when Queen were booed offstage at this festival [they were booed off stage at a show in Australia, at the Sunbury Festival in 1974]."

Singer claimed that the band appears heading "something special", and that "we don't care if we lose money or break even."

Reading and Leeds Festival taking place August 26-28. My Chemical Romance headline Friday night in Reading (26) and Saturday night in Leeds (27).

Reading And Leeds Festival organiser re-issues fake ticket warning

Organisers for the Reading and Leeds Festivals have re-issued a warning about counterfeit tickets for this year's bash.
The news comes after the company behind the events, Festival Republic, took down two fake fan pages who claimed to have free tickets to this year's Reading Festival .
"It has been widely reported that there are many fake sites for all this summer's festivals," Festival Republic said in a statement "This particular scam involves people registering for free tickets and is essentially a third party phishing personal information such as email addresses."
Urging fans to only buy tickets from authorised websites, outlets and partners, this year's event will take place between August 27-29.
Featuring the headliners Guns N' Roses, Arcade Fire and Blink-182, the festival will also see The Libertines reunite for their first full gigs since they split in 2004.

Kings Of Leon slam Reading Festival crowd after headline show

Kings Of Leon's Nathan Followill has slammed the Reading Festival crowd he played a headline show for last night (August 28), describing them as "cold".The drummer and his band played the first Main Stage headline show of the weekend, but after the set he posted a message on Twitter criticising the fans for giving them a poor reception."Reading? What the fuck?" he wrote. "Zero love for the kings. I know it was cold but holy shit, y'all were frozen. I can only hope Leeds is in better form."Kings Of Leon are set to take to the Main Stage in Leeds tomorrow, while Radiohead will headline tonight.

Nashville’s Kings of Leon have enjoyed a few penultimate headlining stints on the main stage in the past, but after winning two Brit awards this year the sons of Pentecostal evangelical preacher Leon are hitting the headlining slot.

Arctic Monkeys take their Sheffield social realism to Saturday’s headlining slot, starting life at Reading Festival back in 1995 on what was known as the Carling Stage. Already back then the small tent, reserved mainly for breaking bands, was rammed and spilling out from all sides. And, for once, Sunday’s main stage line-up is one I can’t resist.

Normally the home of the hard rock element to the festival, this year sees Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bloc Party and then the mighty Radiohead headline. Last playing in 1994, securing Radiohead highlights that organisers Festival Republic are really pulling out all the stops – perhaps in competition to Glastonbury, or perhaps to encourage punters to fork out £175 in this economic climate. It’s clearly worked, as weekend tickets are sold out.

It’s also good to see White Lies already confirmed on the bill. BBC Radio Berkshire has a bit of a connection with the band as Maggie Philbin’s daughter is dating the lead singer. Glasvegas used to play the tiny Rising Sun Arts Centre as part of Club Velocity, so it’s great to see the Scots billed on the Radio One/NME stage too. Of course the stage I’ll be most excited about is the BBC Introducing one, showcasing the best of the bands who are unsigned, undiscovered and under the radar.
