Reading and Leeds Festivals tickets gone on sale 3rd December in T In The Park. Before nine months these festivals are due t take place.

Reading Festival 2010: 'Protected From Flooding'

Organisers of Reading festival have taken measures to protect the festival site from flooding. It follows two days of highly showers, the event's being today (August 27) which have concentrated the ground ahead. The Reading Festival site they have also lowered the levels of the River Thames adjacent. Melvin Benn director festival would enable to festival departer “to have a fantastic weekend”.

Bosses Of Reading Festival Call In Flood Experts

Reading Festival in England this weekend's(28-29Aug10) the arrangers have inscribed a team of flood experts to make sure highly rain. Pluggers have talk in the Environment Agency after week (beg23Aug10) to protect the festival grounds of heavy downpours.

Melvin Benn festival boss says, "I am really grateful to them. We have obviously experienced highly rainfall over the past couple of days but the rest of the weekend is looking nice."

Reading Festival" Police given extra powers

At this year's Reading Festival Police have been given extra powers to deal with troublemakers after large fires were started at the 2009 event.

Groups of people set tents, hedgerows and rubbish on fire, while fencing was also ripped up.

Which starts on 27 August, a dispersal order will be used to break up large groups of people outside the site of the three day festival.

Police will also use the powers against "aggressive" illegal ticket touts.

Police signed the dispersal order with Reading Borough Council, which is also running a hotline to help with residents' concerns.

A council spokesperson said: "Experience from other festivals and events shows that crime drops significantly when a dispersal order is put in place."

Following on from last year's disorder, festival promoters Festival Republic warned last month that they will seek to prosecute any troublemakers.

A new scheme which restricts when fans can bring alcohol on to the site will also be piloted this year. Thames Valley Police is also drafting in extra officers.

By Guns N' Roses this year's event will be headlined, Arcade Fire and Blink 182 and there will also be an appearance from the re-formed Libertines.

Reading Festival Tackling Crime

One of the first major tasks facing Reading's new police chief will be night time commander at the Reading Festival next month.
Superintendent Stuart Greenfield said: “Last year saw an escalation in violence on the Sunday night where too many people had too much to drink, they were lighting fires which presented a very actuall safety risk to other campers on that site.
“Most people go to the site and are there purely to watch the music for a good time 95%, it’s the small minority.
“However the issues that presented themselves last year on the Sunday night were quite significant and presented a real risk to public safety, to the other festival goers, staff on the site, to my officers and to the fire service.
“We can’t ignore that and have worked very hard in the planning stages for this year’s festival with the organisers themselves, Festival Republic and partners in the community safety team and licensing at the council.
“Festival Republic has trebled its number of stewards and has footed the bill for an increased number of police officers onsite.”
Supt Greenfield added: “This year, for me, is about having a more proactive response.
“I want my officers to be engaged with the festival goers selling crime prevention messages.
“It’s a test year almost, a lot more policing, a lot more stewards, we will look what effect that has and that will dictate our resourcing next year.”
Policing around the rest of the town will continue as normal, he said.

Fun for all East Reading Festival

As East Festival Reading Festival drew to a close on Sunday, Hundreds enjoyed the glorious sunshine at a giant family fun day of celebrations.
Young and old flocked to Palmer Park to enjoy live music, fairground rides, clowns, community stalls, a barbecue, sports and circus activities, Bollywood dancing and much, much more.
There were also drumming workshops at The Warehouse in Cumberland Road, and a chance for children to be creative by making masks at Palmer Park library in St Bartholomew’s Road.
There was a opportunity to tour a therapeutic wildlife garden on Sunday at the junction of Hamilton Road and Whiteknights Road where children took part in a nature trail and arts and crafts fun.
The same day also played host to an absolute beginners salsa dance class at The Warehouse where participants were eased through basic routines.
On Friday there was a henna workshop at the Indian Community Centre in Norris Road where visitors had the chance to discover more about the ancient art.
There was also a drama workshop, teddy bears’ picnic and plenty of fun and games aboard the Just Around the Corner bus.
Thursday gave people the chance to try Nordic walking, learn to play a Dhol drum, cake baking classes along with dance workshops and more crafts for children.
Councillor Rob White, representing Park ward, said about Sunday’s main event: “It was a really hot, sunny day with lots of people and lots going on, and a good, positive event for the community.
“There were plenty of smiles on children’s faces and everyone looked like they were having a fantastic and actually fun time.”

Reading Festival Backstage Reporter

As the UK festival season kicks off around the country, Bollocks to Poverty, the youth arm of anti poverty charity ActionAid, is urging motivated young people to get involved in spreading the Bollocks to Poverty message backstage at the Reading Festival 2010. Through the Work it! competition, one lucky winner can live the dream of being an intrepid backstage reporter interviewing bands like Gun’s n’ Roses, Arcade Fire, LCDSoundsystem and the Klaxons. They will also need to be passionate and articulate about spreading the anti hunger word because it will also be their job to get the musicians they interview on board with the campaign. The ideal candidate will be brimming with confidence and totally comfortable about approaching famous people. Applicants are invited to enter the competition by making a video of themselves showing just how gutsy and up for it they are. The winner will need to be available to be part of the Bollocks to Poverty team during the Reading Festival 2010 during August 27th, 28th, 29th.
